On the trail of the Walser spirit
Triesenberg is a traditional mountain village in Liechtenstein. With roots as a Walser settlement in the 13th 14th century, the municipality continues to honour its venerable history.
Triesenberg is located high above the Liechtenstein capital of Vaduz and the neighbouring municipality of Triesen. The people of Triesenberg are direct descendants of the Walser - the cattle breeders and mountain farmers from Valais who left their homeland in the 12th and 13th centuries to scatter in all directions - and they are very proud of their origins.
The people of Triesenberg differ from the rest of the population of the region in particular in their pithy Walser dialect. But the Walser spirit can also be felt in the architecture of the old houses in Triesenberg.
The Walser Museum in Triesenberg provides information about the history, culture and customs of the ancestors of the Triesenberg people and the WalserSagenWeg (Walser Legend Trail) brings the sagas, legends and stories of the ancient people closer. The Triesenberg gastronomy invites you to savour culinary delights.
