Alp Sücka

Alp Sücka is a cow alp in the Liechtenstein mountain region, which belongs to the municipality of Triesenberg and lies above Steg at an altitude of around 1400 metres. The alp is located right next to the Sücka mountain inn.

The name Alp Sücka was first recorded in 1509 (1517). It is listed as the Triesner Alp. Just 100 years later, the area was recognised as a manorial property. It remained in manorial ownership until 1887, and from around 1870 the alpine buildings are also listed as a whey and air training centre.

Sücka was thus one of the first tourist centres in Liechtenstein. Road construction also contributed to this (e.g. Kulm footbridge in 1867/1868). After the entire alp was purchased by the municipality of Triesenberg, the alp buildings were renovated and the so-called "Kurhaus" was also thoroughly refurbished.

Visit to the alp
A visit to the cheese dairy at the right time is worthwhile, whey or "Bulder" (as they say in Triesenberg) can be tasted and a chat with the dairyman is informative. You can also watch milking, driving cattle, moving fences or feeding pigs.

At Alp Sücka dairy products can be purchased
