St James' Way in Liechtenstein
Hiking in Liechtenstein can also be a spiritual experience. A section of the St James' Way, a traditional pilgrimage route starting in Santisgo de Compostela in Spain and leading across Europe, passes through Feldkirch and into the south of Liechtenstein, continuing up past the village of Toggenburg to Wattwil.
The paths leading from east to west - through Austria, southern Germany to Einsiedeln in Switzerland - have been known as important pilgrimage routes for many hundreds of years. Recently, the trails between Austria and Switzerland were linked to create a continuous route from Landeck in Austria, through the south of Liechtenstein up to Einsiedeln.
