Schlossweg (Path to the Vaduz Castle)
A well-maintained footpath leads directly from the Städtle Quarter up to Vaduz Castle. The small, idyllic forest path leads uphill to the castle meadow, where National Day is celebrated each year on 15 August. From here, the majestic Princely seat presents a proud and stately vista. The keep, south round bastion and hall rise above the imposing rocky outcrop at an altitude of 570 metres above sea level.
"Känzile" Viewing platform
The “Känzile” viewing platform is located along the 10-minute walk from the Städtle district of Vaduz up to the castle. The small viewing terrace at the junction of the footpath waypoint offers delightful views over Vaduz and far beyond the River Rhine. In addition, the waypoint is a good place for hikers to catch their breath.
Vaduz Castle
Vaduz Castle is of symbolic importance as an iconic landmark of the nation of Liechtenstein and of the Liechtenstein monarchy. In 1938, the Liechtenstein Princely Family took up residence at the Castle, which continues to serve as the Reigning Prince’s residence to this day. For this reason, it is not possible to explore the castle itself. Despite this, the exterior is well worth a visit, as is a stroll through the Princely Forest.
Parish Church St. Florin
Many members of the Princely Family have been baptised and married in the three-aisled church, which dates from the 19th century. The Princely Crypt was erected in the park in 1960. This serves as the final place of rest for members of the Princely Family. At the foot of the steps leading up to the Parish Church is a statue of Prince Franz Josef II and Princess Georgine of Liechtenstein.
