The annual fair
The annual fair used to be held each autumn as part of the cattle market, where traders would sell their goods to local farmers.
Prizes of money were awarded to the finest animals on show. This money was often used by the animals' owners to purchase the bare essentials, such as clothing, from other market stalls. Liechtenstein is traditionally home to two cattle markets combined with fairs, one in Vaduz and one in Eschen. The traders at these markets, however, rarely attended the market held in Triesenberg.
Today a number of markets take place each year between spring and November, often featuring fun fair rides.
